You might be someone others depend on. You get things done. You stay responsible. On the outside, life may look steady and put together.
Inside, it can feel different. Your mind keeps going. You think through everything. You try to stay ahead of problems before they happen.
Even when things are going well, it can still feel hard to relax.
When things look fine but do not feel fine
Many of the people I work with are high-achieving adults who have spent years holding things together at work, in relationships, or in family roles.
Over time, that effort can start to feel heavy.
You may notice things like:
overthinking that does not turn off
trouble slowing your mind or body
burnout from constant responsibility
guilt when you rest or say no
pressure to do everything perfectly
a quiet feeling that you are never quite enough
Sometimes it is not one clear problem. It is more a pattern of feeling stretched, even when nothing is wrong on the surface.
Why this happens
These patterns often develop when you have learned to stay responsible, take care of others, or push through stress for a long time.
What once helped you succeed can slowly turn into something that feels harder to carry.
Over time, this can look like:
overfunctioning in relationships or work
self-criticism that feels constant
anxiety that does not fully settle
difficulty feeling present or at ease
Your nervous system can stay in a state of alert, even when you are safe.

My work is trauma informed and person centered. It is tailored to you rather than based on a single fixed method.
Depending on what you are working through, therapy may include different approaches that support both emotional and practical change.
